Caught in a trawl net

A million years ago, before the invention of the mobile telephone or colour, I worked as a chef in a hotel in Whitby. Every now and again, during the evening rather than during daylight, there would be a knock at the backdoor and we'd see a smiling chap with a black sack or two. The sacks usually contained fresh salmon which had been "accidentally caught in a trawl net". For a few quid, cash in hand, we would have fresh salmon on the menu. Sometimes other stuff became caught in the trawl nets; vension, and VHS recorders (we didn't find a home for them) spring to mind.

I was reminded of this when I went over to the farm shop to get a net of logs. I didn't ask if they had been caught in a trawl net...
