Coral Slime

After delivering some prints to Art 4 Ukraine I had a gentle walk round Rice Wood. A lot of fungi have passed their peak, but others are now locally very abundant including Yellow Stainers and Shaggy Parasols, one of which had a cap at least 30 cm across!

After rummaging in the undergrowth for some time I finally found an elm log with at least eight Wrinkled Peach fungi, mostly just emerging and located on the bottom of the log, close to the ground. This area also produced some nice Green Elf Cup (see extra), Burgundy-drop Bonnet and a tiny club fungus on a twig.

But best of all was a log with a colony of Coral Slime, in the process of changing from the slimy mobile plasmodium stage to the delicately beautiful fruiting stage. Just stunning!
