Day #8 - Morro Bay - Pismo - Santa Barbara

One of the main reasons that we decided to be so frivolous and book this last minute road trip, was to witness the annual migration of the Monarch butterflies.
Today we were able to stop off at the Monarch butterfly sanctuary in Pismo.
It is really hard to explain how incredible it is to see the thousands of butterflies hanging together in the eucalyptus trees high above your head, and regular photos simply do not do them justice.
Thankfully the volunteers had set up a number of scopes for visitors to use, and this shot was captured using one of them.
After lunch at the Splash Cafe in Pismo we carried on our route down to Santa Barbara, with a brief stop off in the truly bizarre town of Solvang!
Solvang is a US interpretation of a Danish village…. In California…. Amazing!!
This place is definitely worth a stop on any PCH road-trip!
The evening was spent in a sweet brew house called Lama Dog.
Another lovely day
