a lifetime burning

Fisherman's Blues

We met up with my siblings Brentastic and Happy_Janwen, and their better halves Sarahsnaphappy and Incredibish, for a walk with lunch in a pub at the half way point.  It was lots of fun, inevitably, although having a slice of a frangipani plum and almond tart for afternoon tea on top might have been a little on the greedy side.

On the way we saw kingfishers galore, at least 3 separate birds in different locations.  It would be rude therefore, not to feature at least one of them, as they are such magnificent things.  When you see pictures of kingfishers you sort of assume that they are larger than they really are, possibly something to do with the strong colours.  When you see them in real life you realise that they are relatively small things really, bigger than a robin but much smaller than a blackbird.

I've been having a bit of a run of luck with birdlife recently, I dare say that next time I go looking there will be nothing to see, but just at the moment I'm very much enjoying each day's find.
