Cyanistes caeruleus

The Eurasian blue tit. At our feeders we see a lot of great tits, fewer blue tits. And of course the sparrows. See the first extra for an example.

Today seemed to have been the day for the cranes to travel over our area. I have seen thousands of them (and heard hundreds). They flew mainly southbound, but also westward, eastward, northward. Some herds even crossed each other, going both in different directions, with the herds almost touching each other. (In aviation it is forbidden to cross so close.)
The second extra is a picture of the silhouette. They weren't that close, but close. And loud! I heard them three kilometres away and more. They flew whole afternoon and also during the evening until late (we heard them inside the house, with doors and windows closed).
