Bin Rubbish Day

Bin Rubbish Day

Cycling home through the back streets, I pass these roads lined with bins. Green for general waste, blue for recycling and brown for garden refuse. It is really very systematic and well organised. On the other hand, it is quite ugly to see a permanent line of bins, out of the back of very expensive terraced houses. It just goes to show, that it is all 'show', the front is very impressive, but they hide all their rubbish out the back !

Not a great day, productivity wise, at work. So, rubbish in fact, hence the inspiration for the photograph. There is always more work to get through than is physically possible, and you just watch the deadlines go flashing past over your head. So, thinking positively, a pre-appraisal with the boss, a research meeting to plan a project, a holiday booked, a research seminar programme organised, and lunch with a colleague. Not so rubbish perhaps, but these days, if we are not winning a Nobel prize, we are seen as not achieving KPIs and are seriously under performing. Then watching the news and the announcement of the government's hate campaign against immigrants to deflect public attention from the economy and jobs for young people. The temperature dropping again and gales on the way!

On a positive note (from a Newcastle supporter's perspective) Ferguson has finally given up! This means that referees will be freed from his tyranny, managers and players might start to smile again, and Man Utd will go into a nose dive and be relegated next season ;)
