Between fen and mountains

Smiles on a sad day

We shared the car and drove down to the coast for the service at the crematorium. Before that, we had our packed lunch by the beach on a cold and wet day. There were around 70 of us at the crematorium. The service was led by a catholic priest, a friend of the family, but he led it as a secular service. He did manage to slip in the Our Father for the benefit of those who wanted to say a prayer. We then drove back for the Irish wake and spent a couple of hours sharing stories and looking at montages of photographs on a big screen. I think everyone would agree that Mike got a good send off.
