Travelling To Ballater For Thanksgiving

The weather over the last few days has been very dreich. There has been flooding and high winds. Daylight is much shorter and the temperatures are lower.

Today the weather is sunny and the roads are open. Pat has been baking and cooking. She has been planning meals over the last week.

We load up the car, turn off the water supply and head off to Ballater via Stonehaven. Stonehaven is a good town for a ‘pit stop’. It is all an opportunity to pick up two litres of the rather indulgent Ardbeg Whisky and Treacle Ice Cream.

While there we sample other flavours and various chocolate ginger delights.

By the time we have overindulged it is now dark. The first part of the journey has been dry and sunny. The dark is over wet and flooded roads. There is fog and temperatures below zeroC.

The journey takes nearly two hours, but we arrive safe and sound.

Today’s Blipfoto shows some squashes. All destined as part of the Thanksgiving meal on Thursday.
