Thurlestone

Technically, this is South Milton beach (I think), in the South Hams on the south coast of Devon (UK) but we know it as Thurlestone beach. A group of us are staying here for the week, in a beautiful pink house right on the beach.

According to Wikipedia:

The village takes its name from Thurlestone Rock, the so-called "thirled stone", an arch-shaped rock formation just offshore in Thurlestone Bay.

As a point of historical interest, the house contains a photograph of T. E. Lawrence (better known as Lawrence of Arabia) sitting on the front porch though I don't know if he actually lived there or not.

Network coverage is pretty hard to find down here. I'm currently blipping Saturday, though it is actually early Sunday morning, having walked for about 20 minutes round the coast to Hope Cove to steal the wifi network from the Hope and Anchor Inn. Having an iPhone with a wifi detecting app on it is pretty useful for sniffing out available connectivity.

So, this is Jayne on the beach with the rock in the background at about 8am yesterday (Saturday) morning. I had a very cold and invigorating swim in the sea soon after taking this, before anyone else was around.

If you get your positioning right it is possible to take a shot of the setting sun directly thru the rock - something I did last time we stayed here (two years ago). Not sure if I'll get round to trying it again this year.

Anyway... blipping is probably going to be rather infrequent over the next few days.
