Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

A wonderful surprise!

The Ythan estuary is renowned for its large breeding population of eider ducks, the largest on the mainland of the UK. How appropriate then that the old plastic seat that used to sit here has ben replaced by a splendid wooden one adorned with a displaying male eider and a female sitting on her nest. What a wonderful surprise to find it this morning. I presume that it is a gift from Scottish Natural Heritage, if so, many thanks to them!

If you look through the telescope you will be able to see that it also features seaweed and limpets on the rocks.
