bevy of beauties...

...and a brush with fame.

What a classy trio.

And as to the brush with fame, here is the family story of our day with...Rita!!!

We lived in Penang, Malaysia in the late mid 50s to early 60s. My folks were good friends with the manager of the Eastern and Oriental Hotel (think a guest list including Somerset Maugham, Hermann Hesse, Douglas Fairbanks etc) and mum received a phone call inviting the family to a curry tiffin at a rubber plantation on the mainland.
She was told that Rita Hayworth and her beau had arrived on a beautiful yacht and would like to visit a plantation, eat curries and spend a day with a party of people including children.
Travelling by convoy, we and another family arrived at the plantation and... spent the day with Rita Hayworth.
Sadly I can remember little of this, but Mum tells me she was 'utterly beautiful' wearing no makeup on her fabulous complexion, long, luscious, red hair and long, luscious legs.
Wearing shorts and a shirt she played with us kids, was incredibly charming and ALL the adults in the room were completely mesmerized by her charm, naturalness and beauty.

Swoon.
