Dyke Intruding Sandstone

Eigg has an interesting geology consisting of basalt laid over sandstone, with further alteration by volcanic and glacial activity.
Here a dyke, having eroded, left a distinct channel in the surrounding rock, made resilient by the heat of the magma as the dyke was formed.
In the background the extinct volcanoes of Rum, with today's banner cloud, give the impression of still being active.
