Beautiful, but evil

Backblipping, see the date.

An apple ermines (Yponomeuta malinellus) have hatched. The species has been quite a problem in gardens especially in Southern Finland for the 21st century. The larvae produce a silkean web early summer, within which they feed. It can defoliate apple trees and impair fruit production for several years. We have it more or less every year in the whole allotment area, and can do anything else but trying to get larvae off for examle with a strong water shower or just picking them by fingers. The strong recommendation is not to use pesticide for any purpose in the area. Gardening is a hard work, but so rewarding.
