Otter

Quite far out on the Loch of Stenness. I saw the head and thought it a harbour seal till I got the binoculars out. It was quite distant and busy fishing- I saw it catch at least two eels. The morning started well as there was a waxwing on the apples I put out for them (extra). Still just one coming but other sites have 5- 15. At Stenness, after the otter I saw the great white egret I first saw on the 18th (too distant for a decent shot).. Not unusual now in south Britain but still pretty infrequent here. Lots of other birds- a Slavonian grebe, a hen harrier, flocks of snipe, golden plover, lapwings etc etc
