Blaenafon Heritage Railway

A spontaneous visit to the Heritage Railway was rewarded with a meeting with R, who I haven’t seen for several years, not since before Dad died. On that occasion we were given a royal tour of the work in progress on the carriages, which Dad really enjoyed.
R was there today as station master for the Santa Express, trying to keep warm in between visits from Santa. He really looked the part with his pipe (not in front of the visitors of course), tucked away out of sight behind the waiting room, took me back to school days having a crafty fag around the back of the school gym.
