Out in the dark

Another August back-blip, as I try to fill the gaps in my journal. This was a long and challenging day with J in hospital, and I was unable to get out at all until the night staff arrived, bring someone to support J and allow me some sleep. I seized the opportunity to pop outside for a few minutes. This is the road immediately outside the door, with the illuminated neoclassical façade of the Maudsley hospital opposite and a busy street with buses and passers-by. It felt very novel and exotic: it was well over two years since I had been in a city street in the dark.
