Untold histories

I took my solitary, distanced walk this morning to the nearby cemetery, which was, indeed, very peaceful so no need to avoid any other walkers.

I found this gravestone very poignant- what is the story behind the few words? The young girl from Cromarty who came to Edinburgh for a life as a domestic servant. We don’t even know what age she was, but I would like to think she lived a fairly long life and was respected by the family she worked for.
