Advent Candle

I treated myself to a day out at Salisbury with a cathedral dusk-time "Tower Tour" as well as the opportunity to see the art installation in the transept of Disco Mechanique (2008) by David Batchelor.

The tour was challenging; 345 steps up 200ft at times using spiral staircases, some of them rather narrow (no large bags or rucksacks allowed!). However, it was worth the effort for the history lesson from the knowledgeable guide to the views over the surrounding area from the balconies at the base of the steeple, the highest in the UK, and, much lower down, over the cathedral nave.

By the time we got down to the bottom again it was nighttime and we virtually had the cathedral to ourselves with soft lighting. Four candles had been positioned round the renown font, with just one lit for the first week of Advent.  What could be better for this week's Mono Monday challenge.
