Dr Samuel Johnson's House

I bumped into Dr Johnson's House today, tucked away in a little courtyard surrounded by huge office blocks between Fleet Street and Holborn.  I couldn't get far enough away for a good photo.  He lived there whenever he was in London from the 1750s until his death in 1784. It's an amazing survivor. Despite what the board says it's not open Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but I must go back when it is open.  As the great man said "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life", and this woman couldn't agree more.
