Life's tangled skein

Victoria Halls, Linlithgow

I've got most of my information here from the "Buildings At Risk Register for Scotland", at http://www.buildingsatrisk.org.uk/ref_no/1843

As best I can tell, this photograph looks into the decaying remains of the Victoria Halls in Linlithgow. In its past it has also been the Jubilee Hall and the Ritz Cinema.

It appears to be a classic case of an historic (though not listed) building being left to rot by its owner. Whether that is because the owner chooses not to invest, or is unable to invest, I do not know. But the back is gaping open, and the local "intelligentsia" have clearly managed to force their way in and leave their mark.

Currently Linlithgow seems to do fairly well using the Linlithgow Academy stage as its theatre, but wouldn't it be wonderful to see a full, permanent theatre rebuilt in this space?
