Dress rehearsal

Tonight, after a 4 year hiatus, Katie was back on stage for the first time. First dress rehearsal of Show Week. Its been chaotic getting this far but she's absolutely loved the evening now it's here. 

It's the first time I've ever not been part of her dance performances, I won't see the show at all. Getting her ready remotely was a new experience for us both, not entirely smooth sailing. Her stage makeup is currently lost in transit despite next day, tracked delivery. Her transport arrangements fell apart late last night and caused stress through the day. But that face. That grin and her very animated soul after the rehearsal. Her joy. Persevering through months of pandemic home ballet. Hours doing class on her own. Settling into a new ballet school away from all her friends. All of it paid her back with bucket loads of joy today.
