We woke up to a light dusting of snow. Trip to the Technical Museum in Berlin. It's been absolutely years since I last visited. We had a good look at the locomotives. One of the sheds is currently being refurbished as are other bits of the museum. The exhibition of early computers is absolutely fantastic. The are a number of Zuse computers. The photo shows the electro-mechanical Z3 rebuilt using modern components by Konrad Zuse's son in 2010. There is a new bit that has a cool exhibition on communication networks. Really thought provoking exhibition, both on technical and social aspects. The extra shows a device used to listen into unencrypted traffic on a fibre network. The fibre gets bent and leaks some light that can be used to copy the data stream.

A great day out, more pictures on flickr.
