Chiseldon Windmill

I decided to try to find the windmill that the millstone I blipped a few weeks ago came from. It is in the middle of an industrial estate on the outskirts of Swindon.

It was originally erected in Chiseldon in 1823 and was still in use as a corn mill until 1894. Some time later, the internal workings and sails were removed and the tower was converted into a water storage tank. The tower was dismantled and re erected in 1983.

It would be really lovely if the windmill was still in the village, but it would not have been restored and would probably have just fallen into disrepair....
