To Reach One......

The weather outside was chilly and overcast, but inside FBC the welcome and the fellowship were both warm as the congregation along with the choir, orchestra and our group of talented accompanists began singing "O Come All Ye Faithful" to start our service.  After Chris welcomed us and prayed an opening prayer, the choir and all the musicians presented an ethereal and joyful combination of two songs that I love, "Of The Father's Love Begotten" and "Here I Am To Worship",  Before Pastor Wes came to speak to us about what God had laid on his heart for the message this morning, we sang more songs as a congregation, a mixture of Christmas hymns and ending with a familiar chorus.  When Pastor Wes got up to speak, he mentioned that last week's sermon had focused on the hope of the season and in the light of that hope, today we would focus on what our mission and witness is which is to go into all the world and share the good news about what Jesus has done for us and will do for anyone who will confess his sin and receive Jesus as Savior and Lord.  Pastor Wes had much more to say about how Jesus, through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, empowers us to do the work He has called us to  and there are so many who need to hear.  He gave us some statistics that could be overwhelming, but he said that our mission starts with asking God to put one person in our path that we can reach with the good news.  It is not our job to save them, but it is our job to tell what we know and let God do the rest.  I encourage you to watch the Live-stream to be inspired to reach just one person.  Next Sunday, the Music Ministry of FBC will present our Christmas program, which will be preceded by the wonderful sounds of handbells in the mall as you enter starting about 10:30. You will have to be present in person to hear and see the bells, so I hope to see you there!
