Going batty

It's easy to see why this species of fruit bat, Pteropus poliocephalus, is called a Flying Fox. Specifically, a Grey-headed Flying Fox. It's said to be the largest species of bat in Australia, with a wingspan of up to 1 metre.

Late this afternoon, I wandered through a colony of roosting fruit bats at Kooloonbung Creek in Port Macquarie. We're staying here for 2 nights, on our drive home from Canberra
