Kirkgate Market Owls

Crowned owls form part of the arms of the Corporation of Leeds, and they are to be found as indications of civic pride throughout the city. They have already featured in my blip journal of Leeds Bridge on Tuesday 30 April, and here they can be seen high in the wrought iron raftered roof of Leeds Kirkgate Market. In all they can be found in twenty-five locations across Leeds, forming The Leeds Owl Trail, an educational and historic trail throughout the city intended to inform and inspire people about Leeds' rich heritage. (Generall y speaking, photography is not allowed inside the market, but not only was I granted special permission when I requested, but awarded my very own security escort onto the walkways high above the market hall, where I was much nearer the owls. A big thank you to Leeds Kirkgate Market.)
