The Physics of Piracy

What a day. Collected my new glasses and my recently repaired hearing aids. Feel 100 years old. I went to Torquay Museum to see Dr Jonty Depp, nautical engineer and actor, and Jack Sparrow impersonator, give a lecture on the physics of piracy. We learned the difference between a boat and a ship, and the physics of displacement, as well as the accuracy of action in pirate films.
It was a glorious sunny cold day and Jacqui was well wrapped up for her birdwatching cruise on the River Exe. She was in a ship- it has more than one deck. The bird of the day was a pheasant. The bird that never does anything interesting was seen swimming in the river. The boat’ s wildlife commentator was apparently very surprised. Didn’t know they could swim. I suppose it was either that or being marooned.
