Winter in the Garden

This  morning, my sister and I  put the family tortoise, who lives in my Mother's garden, in the shed for his hibernation (or the Big Sleep as my Mother  calls it). He is tucked up in his bed of hay in his house. I quite envy him. While out in her garden.I took this photo. It was the coldest morning so far, and there was ice in the  pond.
I headed for home as my sister is staying there  for a few days to provide company and care for our Mother.
This evening our local RSPB group held its annual Christmas meeting. One of the Members gave an illustrated talk about Slimbridge bird reserve and its history. It was founded by Sir Peter Scott in 1946, and it is such a great place to visit, especially in the winter.
