One rock spinning around another

Those of a certain sense of humour will appreciate my "Third Rock from the Sun" mentality.

This piece of interstellar mucklefuluggery caught my eye this morning. The patterns created in the strata by the sand granules reminded me of the images of those other planets "near" us which are also hurtling through space in a cleverly calculated elliptical curve while clinging on by the skin of our teeth during a quintuple dip recession.
