Participants in the conference arrived from Gaza, the West Bank, Israel, Dubai, France, Italy, and the UK, among others, in time for the first day of our conference.

The conference, titled "Pursuing justice and redress for Palestinian victims: developing strategies for advocacy and litigation", was convened with the aim of developing possible legal and advocacy strategies for accessing justice for Palestinian victims, in light of the challenges they face in the Israeli civil and criminal justice systems.

After a long day discussing the issues, we went for dinner in a restaurant called 'Kilometro Zero'. The ethos of the restaurant is that all of the ingredients used come from within one kilometre of the restaurant, i.e. the restaurant is Point Zero. Even the wine was locally-produced.

It was a set menu of four courses, with a choice of three options for the main course. The food was very unusual, but very tastefully done and delicious. My Arab colleagues were somewhat less enthused, however! This dish was tuna with wasabi aoili and a sort of marmalade. I loved it.
