Bullfinch

Tony pointed out this lone bullfinch helping itself to the seeds of a dried up plant this morning.  We have had them in the elder tree before, normally in pairs, but not so close to the ground and without a partner.  I think bullfinches mate for life so I hope her mate was around somewhere.

What a very chilly day.  The fog hasn't lifted so it's been about -4C, not as bad as Braemar who have had -15C!  I've defrosted the bird bath three times today and I need to go out and fill up the feeders.

We have been up to the garden centre for our tree this afternoon and it's now sitting in a bucket of cold water for a day, as per the accompanying instructions.

It's not the best quality blip being through the window, but it records an unusual event, so there you are.
