Now, as I see it......

York

One good thing about living in Norfolk is that it is fairly remote.  A bad thing about living there is that it is fairly remote so whenever you want to go anywhere, it takes an age.  Today we travelled up to York.  We'd bought tickets to travel up by train which itself would have been quite a journey involving a bus ride and three different trains, but the train drivers' strike put paid to that.  Instead, we got a refund for our tickets and took the car.  There is no motorway or dual carriageway for the first 96 miles even though it is a busy road, so that stretch took us nearly three hours.  Once we hit the motorway it was plain sailing and we got here in good time.

A quick walk around the town to see the Minster and the Christmas Market and then back to the hotel.  We're eating at an Italian restaurant this evening and tomorrow is the reunion with my old school friends.  Should be a good day.
