My mothers gnomes

Today I felt well enough to visit my mother. The poor lady has been stuck in the house, because of snow and the cold weather. Before she had the stroke, she loved to use her hands, making things.
I tried to find the english name for these "gnomes", but it was difficult. Can anyone help me?
