Tantalising

Another day of sub-zero temperatures (max. -1.5°C), and we woke to cold radiators and a silent boiler! Probably just frozen water in the condensate pipe we thought. It's happened before in really cold weather, so MrM girded his loins and went outside with a kettle of hot water or two to unblock the pipe. Which he did, but the boiler still failed to come on. After muttering a rude word or two I texted Ben, the plumber, who phoned back with the promise of calling in today or tomorrow. We'd given up hope of him coming today when he burst in through the door at 7.00pm! Fifteen minutes later and the boiler was working!

Would have been nice to get out for a walk this afternoon, but I was expecting a couple of parcels. MrM listened out for the delivery man for a while when I nipped out to collect our new place mats, on order at a local store. I trudged through the snow - treacherous on compacted ice - up to the brow of our road while I was out for a glimpse of the hills, tantalising in the last of the sunlight.
