Submission

A bright leaf on an otherwise grey and drab day. The leaf, having served its purpose and now discarded, submits to a watery demise. Yet, the ice has it held in place, half in, half out, for the time being anyway.

The leaf's state also marks a transition between here and now and another world, not seen, not known. In suspension, in remission, set free yet captive. A leaf can be more than a leaf.

I like the colour contrast and the veining on the leaf.
