Christmas food preparations

After a slow start to the morning we did some food prep.for next weekend. Martin made his special ground almond and orange pastry which he used to make mince pies. The mince meat was made by my aunt. They are very tasty; we had to test one for quality control purposes. I think  we must freeze  the rest to stop us eating them too soon!  Meanwhile, I made almond paste which I used to cover the Christmas cake. Not sure whether I will get around  to applying royal icing too, but never mind, I can decorate  it as it is.
