Getting the sparkle back

Silver wreath

This is the wreath I made at the weekend workshop in silver clay. The main structure is steel wire fired to a temperature which gives it a copper colour and the decorations are silver clay. I'm particularly pleased with the ivy leaves which were made using a real ivy leaf pressed into the clay while it was wet. There's an extra of one of them. I might even make a whole wreath of ivy leaves sometime! The clay was rolled very thin to get a large enough surface area and that caused a bit of a problem with one of the leaves, but the thinness probably makes it look more like a leaf. It was made from a type of silver clay which you can bend and manipulate both while you're working with it and after it's dried so you can get a more realistic effect. The holly berries are dyed pearls.
