Our Amigos

Six years ago we had never met any of these three, but now they are very dear to us. All of them busy, but we squeezed in a night to eat together and catch up - it was good.

I'm a day behind in Darkling now, so I'll quote from yesterday's and leave today's for now:

We need to learn to be creatures of the in-between - to live in the absolution of the present, not the unforgiving unreality of 'if' and 'then' and 'only' and 'when'. It is easier said than done. Especially during darkling days. But we are where we are, so we might as well look around and see what joys or truths that the 'here' might hold.

Breakthroughs do happen. Dreams do get fulfilled. Sometimes, they do not. In the meantime, life is unfolding, and the invitation is open.

God of the in-between,
Help us to keep our eyes on the here and now.
Help us to dwell full-heartedly in the present.
Help us to see that life has started,
and will not wait for us.

As Gideon says in today's entry: I'm preaching to myself, and letting you eavesdrop.

Gratefuls:
- even more (heavy) rain; we were gobsmacked when we saw Mike's "Bather" almost under water; last week she was still totally out of the water
- a really good session with Luís, our architect; think we might be getting somewhere
- the privilege of new friends in this in-between life in Portugal, between our full life in Brazil, and life in England with our family and friends
- plus, Mike getting his psycho-technic test done; we'll send off his license tomorrow
