A White (Sand) Christmas

Spending a few weeks in Maldives visiting Mrs B’s home and family in Male’ City. As such with lots of her siblings, grandsons, nephews and neices to catch up with, I have been kindly given a special dispensation for some saltwater fly fishing R&R. So spending a few days with my fly rod before Christmas visiting her brother Haby up north who manages a farmed island in Noonu Atoll called Vavathi. It’s like having a beach resort all to myself with home grown coconuts, papayas and bananas all on tap and my own beach front bungalow and butler. Staff are all lovely and their food is great because they include Maldivians, Indians, Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis and Nepalese. Lovely daughter Jay is left behind in UK working. Its the first time we have not spent Christmas together as a family unit in all her 30 years. Feeling a little guilty about that…but not too much.
