Helmsley

Up early to pop through to York to do a food shop. In and out reasonably quickly and home for a coffee.

Had a slow run through the woods. Good to stretch the legs although had to stop at the level crossing for the Santa Special to pass.

This afternoon Stephen and I had a trip to Helmsley to pick up some Christmas wine. This was the view as we had a walk through Duncombe Park. It shows the devastation caused in the Civil War. Plus the mounds and ditches which were the main defence against attack.
