Unattended

Aril Andersen Group - Short Story

An unattended gyoza shop. There are a lot of these around these days. Choose what you want and pay the box accordingly. There’s a camera there to catch you if you don’t pay. It’s novel at first to think about it but rather sad that due to convenience and peak efficiency, “regular hours” aren’t what they were. It’s the way of the world, but thinking back to when elevators were attended and when people were employed to establish the human connection, it was less lonely then.

There are positives to the convenience we have now but it’s bereft of being connected face to face with others.
