German Döner

My favourite (but only) Döner Kebab place in Ottobeuren run by the lovely Turkish family, Mert. They like all others have had to increase the prices. It's now risen from €5 to €5.50.

From my 1970s memories of take away kebab places around Tottenham Court Road in London, English Döners were lumps of meat, grilled on skewers. The German ones are 'shaved' off these cones of meat that are built up of layers of meat slices. I think, after Pizzas, these are the most popular take away food. It's certainly a favourite with my family.
