6 Gloucester Place, Edinburgh is the home of a boutique hotel named Nina Caledonia and Blackwood’s Restaurant. In a previous incarnation the building was named the Christopher North House Hotel after a famous former resident. 
John Wilson of Elleray FRSE (18 May 1785 – 3 April 1854) was a Scottish advocate, literary critic and author, the writer most frequently identified with the pseudonym Christopher North of Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine and he lived in this house from 1826 to 1854. He was also professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh from 1820–1851.  He died in this house as a result of a stroke and is buried in Dean Cemetery.
