Nunwell Down

With a dire weather forecast for the afternoon I decided to go for a walk on Nunwell Down after breakfast before the rain arrived. It was cool and breezy up on the downs but the fields of rape added plenty of colour to the scene.

This is the view looking across the Solent towards Ryde and Portsmouth.

I did not envy the thousands of walkers taking part in the annual 'Walk the Wight ', a tough 26 mile charity walk across the island from East to West through the countryside and along the coastal paths. The later finishers would be contending with gale force winds and rain as they approached the Needles.
