When Your Birds are Blurry....

because the wind is howling and the snow is blowing and everything is moving, including the birds, but you still need a blip, it is best to turn to an easy-fix app...and Voilà! A work of art!  Easy peasy.

It is a real blizzard out there..not that we should be surprised; we were well-warned. And yes, it is bitterly cold, the wind is vicious, and the snow is so busy flying by that not much of it is landing, so shoveling out the driveway tomorrow will not be as bad as we had expected.. unless.... unless.... tomorrow is worse...?

The best laid plans for Christmas celebrations have already been thrown into disarray. My turkey dinner with friends is off the agenda as Covid felled the cook; my brother's dinner with his friends was canceled as the host can't make it back to the city..So....it will be a turkey-less Christmas dinner here at my house for my brother and me...weather permitting, of course....

Meanwhile, despite the storm, today turned out to be an uplifting and  rather social day! The plan was to hunker down with the cat and a good book by the fire, but neighbours showed up unexpectedly bearing gifts and stayed for a lovely visit; a text, including a photo of his beautiful Christmas tree, arrived from the husband of my friend Michole who died recently and this evening, my friend Dave from my TVO days whose wife also died recently, called to chat. It was good to hear from both of them and to know that although this is a really tough time for them, they are coping and have lots of love and support from their families.

It is beginning to look like a White Christmas, the one we always wish for.. but hoping for snow for Christmas is one thing - getting a storm is another! The pressure to get everything done before the storm, however has had an upside. It  has meant that for many of us, everything is done and now we have free time - time to just relax...

For those who have to travel, it is a different story..Let's hope the storm settles down tomorrow and everyone can get where they have to go. For once, I am quite happy to be staying home!
