THEY’RE BACK!!!

A beautiful morning for a bike ride to North Mole. As I rode past the Fairy Tern nesting area there were actually Fairy Terns!! Woohoo. I nearly fell off my bike…not really.

I spoke to an expert (PhD on the FTs) on site. She didn’t know why they hadn’t been nesting in recent years.
Whilst chatting the birds took flight with almighty noise - a predator in the guise of a Kestrel who swooped to steal a chick from a hutch - sad but I guess that’s life in the bird world. When the kestrel left the area the Fairy Terns returned to a less stressful sound.
