The race for first past the heads

My friend R is crewing in the Sydney to Hobart race this year on Antipodes.  T is stuck in Newy as Abby has had her puppies otherwise we were going to get on the water to see him off.  I took mum to Dobroyd Point to watch the race.   You have to understand that's not as easy as it sounds as good vantage spots fill up early and mum can't walk far so I needed to get her to a spot where she could see it from the car.  The road was blocked to Plan A but there was some lovely people who made way for us at a spot not far away from Plan A and so here you have the big supermaxi's battling it out for first past the heads. (There was a lot of shenanigans going on with these maxis with what looked like near misses).   You are looking at  Comanche, Black Jack, Wild Oats, and Law Connect (left to right) in front of South Head.

Plans have been scuppered this evening as a friend I was meeting up with has come down with Covid.  Gee there is a lot of it about but you would never know.

I have put Antipodes (light blue hull) going past South Heads in the extras.
