E.ON Green Energy Offshore

This night we were busy mooring this barge on the stern of the Thialf. A soon as it was moored, a bad weather forecast came in and we had to unmoor the barge again. What you see on this picture is a jacket on the bow of the barge and the topside on the left. The jacket will be placed on the seafloor and four piles will be hammered through the vertical guides you can see on the bottom of this structure. As soon as this is finished, the topside will be placed on op of it and welded to the jacket. The yellow paint marks more or less the waterline, paint is above, and rust is below. This is not an oil platform; it is an electric converter station. It belongs to the largest offshore windmill projects with 80 windmills to be built in the near future. A total of 400 Megawatts will be produced serving 375.000 households.
