Athena

Bit of a cold and wet day (3 degrees centigrade) so, here’s the statue of Athena in Dolphinstone Way, Prestonpans.

The sculpture was designed by Andy Scott, who also designed the amazing Kelpies near Falkirk.

Athena was designed to commemorate 81 residents of the town who were executed for witchcraft in the 16th century, though it represents “a proud and dignified woman” rather than a victim.

Turns out that East Lothian was a hotbed of witchcraft in the old days.

Here’s hoping you are having a nice day, whatever the weather where you are.
