It's all in the tone

We had a fabulous day today making travel journals with visiting Canadian artist Margot Paris in the gallery. We stitched together signatures of paper and bound it all with wonderfully warm sheets of leather. When we were done Margot did a presentation about using the journals for pleine air painting and in the process noted that sometimes it's better not to think of color and instead to think only of tone. She passed round a sheet of red plastic to look through as a way of thinking about it and I put it over the lens.
